Features of Nikon D3400

Nikon again has done a great job in combining compactness with functionality and quality.

  • Design

Nikon worked really hard to make their cameras even lighter and more compact. There are some changes from D3300 model. Nikon D3400 comes with lighter body with easy gripping. The camera comes with dedicated function buttons for Quick access which are placed perfectly. The Guide mode helps to understand different camera settings for the first time user. There is 3inch fixed LCD screen with no touch feature. The viewfinder covers 95% of the scene. It has a single SD-card slot, High Speed USB 2.0 and C-Type HDMI port. D3400 does not have microphone port.

  • Video Quality

Video quality is one of the main features in every DSLR camera. It can shoot Full HD video (1080p video at 60 fps). The auto-focus has been improved from the last year’s model as AF-P DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR lens added. It makes videos to look clear and it is of great help when shooting moving videos. There are time-lapse or slow-motion options to make even more creative videos. A dedicated video recording button is provided in the camera for any time use.

  • Connectivity and Nikon’s SnapBridge

Perhaps the stand-out feature of Nikon D3400 is the SnapBridge which allows to get connected to a compatible smartphone or tablet. Once paired you can sync all images and videos from camera and easily transfer to Nikon Image Space, a free online storing and sharing service provided by Nikon. Though there is no Wi-Fi connectivity but still Nikon uses Bluetooth Low Energy to get connected with devices. However you cannot remotely operate camera through SnapBridge.

  • Battery Life

The Battery Life gets improved in the latest model. A full charge can shoot nearly 1200 shots which is remarkable. Nikon D3300 offered 700 shots with same battery.

Major Dissappointments :

  • No Built-in Wi-Fi
  • No image stabilization ( optical low- pass filter )
  • No touch screen facility
  • No 4K video recording

Our Verdict :

With great expectations from its users Nikon has managed to satisfy photographers with the new Nikon d3400 camera. The entry-level DSLR camera with some exiting features surely boost its users. Though it lacks some striking features that other beginner models have but still at the given price Nikon D3400 performs way too ahead.

Nikon D3400 will be available in 2 kits. First kit comes with only AF-P DX Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR lens and the second one with an additional AF-P DX Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3G ED lens along with 18-55mm lens.

  1. Hey for videography, which is better, Nikon d3400 or Canon T6? I read an article on Sleeq Tech( but the writer is talking alot too much about the similarities among both. The article is too confusing.

So what’s your take if i’m planning to use for daily vlogging?
